Whilst lockdown restrictions are being steadily and somewhat prematurely relieved, I have been told to self-isolate for three weeks. Two weeks before my operation and one week after.

In parallel with the first few weeks of lockdown, I was dreading the thought of having to isolate away from my family and friends. Knowing that I had to stay inside of my room, without any contact, was considerably strange to adapt to whilst everyone in the house was still going about their daily lives. However, I could get used to people leaving food outside of my door every day.

On a brighter note, I haven’t been entirely on my own as Roxi has been coming to visit, whilst also dictating my blog – which is shown below.

Although three weeks sounds like a long time, it has actually flown over. One reason could be that I have been more productive this past week than I have been through the entire lockdown.

Over the past few months, I have been desperate to start the gym and interweave more exercise into my routine, so lockdown has been the perfect time to focus on my health. Despite the endless hours of spare time, especially since finishing university for the year, I haven’t done any exercise other than walking the dogs and popping to the shop. Consequently, I became even more lackadaisical.

Regardless of my appearance, I decided to focus on increasing my daily exercises to better my mental health. On top of this, it helped my days pass by a lot quicker than anticipated, because I was doing something that required me to get out of bed. If there is one thing that I have learnt this past week, is that exercise isn’t as hard as I thought to keep up. Regularly going to the gym or taking up running had always felt like a chore, which is why I couldn’t get into the habit in the first place. However, give it a few weeks and we will see how long it lasts or actually if I manage to build up a routine.

Another thing to keep me busy was the release of the third season of Dark. If anybody has watched this programme, they will be very familiar with the complexity of the storyline, which in hindsight I should have watched a catch up beforehand. As the plot is based in various time periods, it can be easy to forget which character is which in each year, meaning that concentration is a must because it isn't necessarily chronological . Whoever came up with this storyline must be a genius to interlink all of the characters without getting confused, as it can be difficult to piece together. But I highly recommend this programme if mysteries and subtitles are your thing (unless you prefer the language being dubbed).

If reading is more of your thing, then I encourage you to read ‘I Am Watching You’, with the title being rather self-explanatory. Each chapter is written in a different perspective, which in my opinion, makes it more of a page turner as there is always a cliff hanger which won’t be explained until each protagonist has given their insight. Considering that it only took me a couple of days to complete, emphasises the gripping nature of the writing and my impatience. Definitely an 8 or 9/10 recommendation.

Let's see what next week entails.
